The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a psychological assessment designed to identify individuals' preferred tendencies in perception and judgment, which they can easily report through self-report questions. It aims to understand how these preferences influence human behavior and can be applied practically in daily life.

The MBTI identifies one's type among 16 possible types, which are relative. It was developed by Katherine C. Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers, based on Carl Jung's theory of personality types. The assessment categorizes individuals into four main categories: Introversion or Extraversion, Sensing or Intuition, Thinking or Feeling, and Judging or Perceiving.

Development The initial MBTI manual was published in 1962. Subsequently, the MBTI received additional support from Donald MacKinnon of the University of California, Berkeley, W. Harold Grant of Michigan State University and Owen College, and Mary H. McCaulley of the University of Florida. In 1975, MBTI publications were transferred to CPP (Consulting Psychologists Press), and a psychology type application center was established as a research laboratory.

After Myers passed away in May 1980, Mary McCaulley updated the MBTI manual, and the second version was published in 1985. The third edition came out in 1998.

Indicator Explanatoin

iNtuition Sensing Perception Style: Beyond the Actual / Practical Perception

Perceiving Judging Lifestyle: Spontaneous Living / Planned Living

There are two possible options for each of the four scales, resulting in a total of 24=162^4 = 16 different types. Each type is represented by a four-letter code, such as "ENFP," where each letter corresponds to one of the options. Here are the MBTI types:
