6 Must-Visit Beaches in South Korea

Did you know that Korea is surrounded by the sea on three sides?

Among the many beaches with unique attractions, here are six you shouldn't miss on your trip to Korea. One of them is Jumunjin Beach, where the K-pop group BTS shot their album cover!

Many people choose the beach as their favorite travel destination because of its ever-changing scenery. During the day, the sea glows emerald green, turns fiery red at sunset, transitions to a soft violet, and becomes a deep navy speckled with stars at night. In Korea, you can witness all these beautiful transformations.

Seonjaedo, Incheon

First up is Seonjaedo in Yeongheung-myeon, Ongjin-gun, Incheon. When the tide is low, you can see a sandy path gradually revealed. If you want to experience this slowly unfolding sea path, head to Seonjaedo!

Gwangalli Beach, Busan

One of Gwangalli's biggest draws is the spectacular night view of Gwangandaegyo Bridge.

At night, the bridge lights up with a colorful light and a drone show that you can enjoy from anywhere along the beach.

Plus, there are numerous cafes and restaurants along the shoreline where you can dine or have a drink while taking in the view. The beachfront cafes, in particular, offer fantastic views of the bridge and sea.

Yangyang, Gangwon Province

Yangyang's surf beach has rapidly grown in popularity in recent years as a surfing hotspot.

The consistent waves along the east coast make it perfect for surfers of all levels.

After surfing, you can relax at one of the trendy cafes and pubs along the beach.

These beachfront venues offer great ocean views, making them popular among young people. Yangyang also hosts various events like surfing festivals and music festivals.

Jumunjin, Gangneung

Next is Jumunjin in Gangneung.

This beach is famous as a filming location for the drama "Goblin." T

here's another popular photo spot here—the bus stop where BTS shot their album cover. Fans of BTS often visit to take beautiful photos, so why not capture your own perfect shot here?

Maemiseong, Geoje

Located in Bokhang-gil, Jangmok-myeon, Geoje, Maemiseong is a unique fortress.

It was built by a local resident named Baek Soon-nam to protect his crops from natural disasters after losing his farmland to Typhoon Maemi in 2003. The scale and design of this fortress are impressive, especially considering it was built without any blueprints!

Saryangdo, Tongyeong

Last but not least is Saryangdo in Tongyeong.

This destination attracts about 200,000 visitors annually for hiking and fishing. The area consists of three islands: Upper Island, Lower Island, and Suudo. Hiking and beach activities are mainly on Upper Island, while fishing is more common on Lower Island.

If you want to enjoy both trekking and sea fishing, or if you're traveling with a group with diverse interests, Saryangdo is highly recommended!

Enjoy your trip to Korea and make sure to visit these stunning beaches!
